MedEquity is founded
Stichting MedEquity is officially incorporated in the Netherlands, with a simple premise — medical equipment should be sent because it is needed, not because it is spare.
On 23 July 2026, Stichting MedEquity was officially incorporated in the Netherlands, with its statutory seat in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
MedEquity starts from a simple observation. Much of the medical equipment donated to hospitals in low-resource settings falls out of use shortly after it arrives. It was never needed, it breaks down, or no one has been trained to operate or maintain it. Studies estimate that 40 to 70 percent of donated equipment ends up unused within a short time.
We want to change that by turning the usual order around. Instead of starting from what a donor hospital has to spare, every transfer starts with a validated request from the institution that will use the equipment. We then find matching equipment, test it, handle the logistics and make sure local staff are trained to use and service it.
What happens next
As a new foundation, we are starting deliberately small: one recipient institution and one donor institution. This lets us test and refine our model before we scale up.
Our board brings together members in donor countries and in the regions we work with, so that both sides of every partnership are represented.
